In my opinion, I feel that Mike Rose not only wanted to prove to others that he could accomplish whatever he put his mind to, but also to prove it to himself. Underneathe it all i think Rose knew his potential and knew that he could succeed no matter what the task, with the occassional help from others of course. On the other hand, with the teacher's that helped him, i feel that they simply helped him because they too saw the potential in him. Teachers are there to guide and help and I think Rose's teacher/professors did just that (the majority of them).

I think determination and the will to be someone just because people say you aren’t up to speed with everyone else is what kept Mike going threw college. I don’t think Mike knew or understood the amount of work and pressure in college at first. However, Mike realized if he is going to do this he’d have to try harder. I think Mike also was eager to help struggling students. To me it seemed like he wanted to pick student’s minds and see where they struggle and why, such as Harold. I think the teachers were so helpful because they saw potential in Mike. The teachers most likely thought that if Mike wanted to quit he would have by now and he is trying and wants this, therefore it’s worth my time to help him. I don’t think the professors helped Mike to much. I feel they gave him just the right amount of guidance and let Mike decide his path for his future.
